Cool off this Sunday at our annual Summer Splashdown party, taking place from 12 noon to 4 pm at my house. Re-connect with your Cactus GTO club members, have some great barbeque, and hear about our upcoming activities for the fall.

We look forward to seeing you! Please RSVP by Wednesday so we can order the right amount of food (602.653.5074; newsmark@cox.net) Bring a cool appetizer or dessert with you, and your swimsuit!

I've got the Highlighter in the shop for some much-needed mechanical work, but the best news this month was getting to hear radio tunes in the car for the first time in over 8 years. Special thanks to Al Freehauf, the Radio Doctor, for bringing the old Delco back to life. Al was one of our Project GTO presenters at our May club meeting. At $163, the price was right, too. Give him at call at 623.465.2539 if you need work done on your old radio. You can find Al on our website here along with our other Project GTO vendors. Also, check out our 3 new photo albums in the Gallery. See you Sunday!

Text Box: Results from RM auction bode well for GTOs
At the last GTO Club meeting we promoted the June 19 auction in San Diego with RM Auctions that was loaded with classic Pontiacs, including several from Jim Wanger's own collection. He also had his entire Trans Am collection on the block.
The results are in, and they look good for GTO value in the marketplace.
Text Box: Prices ranged from $26,950 for a '74 GTO Hardtop to $99,000 for a '65 GTO Coupe. Wanger's Trans-Am collection – 1969, '79,'89, and '99 editions – all sold, with prices ranging from $33,000 to $77,000. We'll have a complete list for handing out at the Splashdown on Sunday, but the website offers detailed photos of each car.

Don't forget our next club meeting @ Sept. 8, starting at 7 pm at Denny's Restaurant (Highway 143 and University).

Our Club Calendar Project coordinator Tony D'Angelo is getting a head start on our 2011 edition. If you have received an email asking for a photo of your car – or, if you have a great photo of your car --- please contact Tony. We want to have these calendars ready for the holiday season.
